Your Builds / Homebrew 7.62x39 AR
« Last post by Chris on February 14, 2017, 08:17:25 PM »
I finished the AR 7.62x39, and it's awesome. Under 6 lbs without optics, accurate, and reliable. I have a blog article, so check it out so I don't have to recreated it here. I haven't installed the Hiperfire trigger group yet, and the titanium muzzle brake is being sent out for DLC treatment, which will turn it black.

Creative Arms / Specs and weight?

Is this a new US company making American made x39 rifles and such? Anyone have more info on this? I'm a bit disturbed at the overall weight of 8.2 lbs. Seems heavy, and by the time you clamp some accessories on it, like a scope, it's well over 9 LBS. and more like 9.5 to 10 lbs. Not liking those numbers!

Another American made rifle would be awesome and I hope the trend continues.

General 7.62x39 Discussion / All American made 7.62x39 Ammo
« Last post by Administrator on October 25, 2016, 05:49:11 PM »
I'll start the list. Please add any 'all American made' ammo. For example, Hornady imports the steel cases for their SST line, so not all American made. Also correct mistakes you've noted.  :)

Corbon DPX - 123 Grain - Expanding, all copper - Brass case
Federal American Eagle - 123 Grain - Full Metal Jacket - Brass case
Federal Fusion - 123 Grain - Expanding - Brass case
Federal Power Shok - 123 Grain - Soft Point - Brass case
Winchester (white box) - 123 Grain - Full Metal Jacket - Brass case
Winchester PDX1 Defender - 120 Grain - Split Core Hollow Point - Brass case
Winchester Super-X - 123 Grain  - Soft Point - Brass Case

Shot the M10X. So far I've used...

Silver Bear 123 GR HP
Golden Tiger 124 GR FMJ BT
Geco 124 GR FMJ

Using a bipod and a scope (Accupower) at 4x, the accuracy results at 100 meters are in the order listed. To be fair, I've only had two sessions, with the first just being function tests and plinking. The next time I go to the range it will be with a stable adjustable rifle rest (Lead Sled) and a 9x scope to take more of me out of the equation...  ;D

I was disappointed that the Geco seemed to be the worst, since it's brass cased, so more expensive. It's the first time I've purchased any. The Silver Bear has been my go-to ammo for my Czech VZ2008.

Here's a video of that trigger job.

I haven't had it long enough to rate, but so far it's been awesome. I bought mine directly from M+M via their website. So far I've added a short rail piece (M-Lock) for a QD bipod, a Trijicon Accupower 1-4x scope, and swapped the trigger for a hand fit RAK-1 two-stage. The trigger mod combines the M+M Hammer with the RAK-1 trigger and disconnector. BTW, nothing wrong with the M+M trigger, and it's actually pretty smooth. I just happen to prefer the two-stage on AK type triggers. Here's a couple pics.
